Proprietary Assays
KineMed’s assays are based on the premise that the flow of molecules through complex metabolic pathways, rather than the gene or protein in isolation, is the operational unit of phenotype in biology and disease. Kinetic biomarkers, or KineMarkers™, quantify the flow of molecules through the critical pathways responsible for health or disease. KineMarkers™ provide the only commercially available tools for measuring the flux of molecules through pathways in living systems (molecular kinetics).
KineMed’s assays differ from static tests in two fundamental respects: first, KineMarkers™ measure the activity of intact pathways in fully assembled systems, rather than the state of component parts; second, KineMarkers™ include molecular motion or the dimension of time. KineMarkers™ thereby differ from static assays in the same way that motion pictures differ from snapshots.
KineMarkers™ use highly sensitive mass spectrometers in concert with proprietary processes for labeling and measuring molecular fluxes in living organisms, including humans.
KineMed’s assays represent the emergence of a New Product Development Tool-Kit that can greatly improve predictability and efficiency of the drug development process. KineMed’s tools allow the safety and effectiveness of drugs to be demonstrated in a shorter timeframe, at a lower cost and with greater predictive power, while eliminating impending failures early.
KineMarkers™ also have broad utility in advanced medical diagnostics and patient management.
KineMed’s technology has been applied to every class of biological molecule. Proprietary KineMarker™ assays have been developed for essentially all the major diseases of man, including those in the fields of oncology, neurobiology, immunology, fibrogenesis, obesity/energy balance, dermatology, arthritis, inflammation, diabetes/insulin resistance, atherosclerosis, frailty/fitness, bone, muscle, infertility, etc.
