Seeing Clearly Amidst Biological Complexity

No other approach enables the mechanistic insights provided by KineMed's TM and PM platforms. By tracking stable isotopes using mass spectroscopy, we accurately determine the inner workings of very complex systems within the body on the basis of a small number of samples and within short observation periods. Even for diseases that unfold over years, we can observe the perturbations and potential drug-mediated corrections in much shorter time intervals (often within weeks instead of years). Among the many processes we are uniquely able to measure are those by which the body transports and transforms cholesterol, neutral fats and sugars, the generation and breakdown of specific proteins, and rates of cell division.
