KineMed technology utilizes ultra-sensitive high-resolution mass spectrometry (MS) to analyze tissue or fluid samples obtained from animals or people administered stable isotopes such as heavy water. MS is a proven and widely used analytical method and an established standard in the pharmaceutical industry. KineMed has developed novel MS applications focused on the dynamic measurement and characterization of molecular kinetics. To make the technique suitable to analyze the incorporation of stable isotopes into biomolecules in living animals and man, KineMed has optimized our MS analytical capabilities to be extremely sensitive and solved many challenges in reliably extracting low signals from high noise backgrounds, making us leaders in the field of stable isotope kinetics. These applications are based on many significant innovations that form an extensive intellectual property estate, including nine issued patents and over 100 pending patents.
