Company History

KineMed was founded in 1999 by David Fineman and Marc Hellerstein and focused on accelerating and improving the development of new medicines by achieving rapid human proof of concept. Their original strategy was based on a proprietary technical platform that could be applied across a number of major therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular disease, fibrotic disease, neurodegenerative disease and cancer. This technical platform, patented at University of California, is the exclusive intellectual property of KineMed.

That original vision is still in place—and so is the platform, now powerfully developed and validated. Today, KineMed is transforming the drug discovery and development process in targeted therapeutic areas by combining cutting-edge insights into of complex biochemical networks with technical and conceptual advances in mass spectrometric measurement of in vivo biological and pharmacological pathways. KineMed's innovative platform measures molecular kinetics in intact living systems, including animals and humans. KineMed works with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies through partnerships and applies its innovations toward the development of its own promising drug pipeline.
